A Rembrandt man has been charged with sexual abuse after an investigation by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Gary Launderville says a complaint was received Wednesday that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted at least four times on Tuesday evening at 1156 510th Street, Rembrandt. The residence was searched, leading to the arrest of 36-year-old Cory Wernimont, who was charged with four counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class “C” felony.
Wernimont is being held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a 40-thousand dollar bond. The Department of Human Services and the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation. Launderville says the investigation is continuing with possible further charges.
