8/9/12 Engineer Picked For Storm Water Project

An engineering agreement has been approved for a storm water project in Storm Lake.
City clerk Justin Yarosevich says flooding has been a problem in the Rose/Tulip/Violet Lane area… with massive flooding during heavy rains.  He says creative storm water filtering and control features will be used to remove water from the area and to clean and prevent pollutants from entering the lake.
The city council this week approved hiring Bolton and Menk of Mankato to develop the final plan and assist with construction observation.  The firm did the initial preliminary design work for the project.  The city is receiving a 600-thousand dollar Community Development Block grant for the project… with the rest of the estimated one-point-two million dollar cost being paid with storm water utility revenue bonds.
