Four teenage Storm Lake boys were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon police investigated the report of several juveniles huffing near the shoreline of the lake near Sunset Park.
          According to police, officers located four juvenile males and saw one of them in the act of inhaling spray paint fumes from a plastic bag,, or huffing.  The juvenile after huffing began to sway and loose his balance as police arrived and took him into custody. 
          Police took all four boys… two 13 and two 14… to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released for exposure to toxic chemicals.  All four were charged with public intoxication and released to parents pending appearances in juvenile court.
 
          The Storm Lake city council is in the process of passing an ordinance prohibiting huffing.  The council has approved the ordinance on two readings, the final reading expected next Monday.  The ordinance prohibits huffing… the possession or purchase and use of substances for huffing… and aiding others in the use of substances for huffing.  It includes fines of up to 625-dollars and up to 30 days in jail.
