An investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a nine-year-old Estherville girl has landed an Estherville man in jail.
Estherville police say 29-year-old Marvin Noel Torrez-Zavala was arrested and booked into the Emmet county jail on a charge of 2nd degree sexual abuse, a class "B" felony punishable by no more than 25 years in prison. Torrez-Zavala is being held on a 32-thousand dollar bond and on a detainer issued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The arrest stems from a complaint Estherville police received from the girl's mother who stated the girl had been sexually assaulted by a household member.
