The Sac County Sheriff's Office covered a second accident involving a car and a RAGBRI bicyclist Tuesday morning.
The department says the accident occurred east of the M-54 and highways 71 and 175 intersection on the east edge of Lake View and was reported just after 6:00 a.m. Sheriff Ken McClure says a group of three bicyclists were disoriented on the official RAGBRI route while leaving Lake View. The bikes made a U-turn on highway 175. Only one of the three bikes was equipped with a head and tail lamp.
Twenty-one year-old Chenoa Bronson of Sheldon was driving a car westbound and was unable to see the bikes in the roadway because of headlight glare from on-coming traffic. Bronson struck a bike being ridden by 44-year-old Michael Sean McGowan of Miami, Florida. McGowan was thrown in to the windshield of the Bronson car. He received incapacitating injuries and was taken to Loring Hospital in Sac City by a RAGBRI Ambulance.
Lake View Police assisted the Sheriff's Office at the scene. There were no other injuries reported. No charges have been filed.
