7/23/12 Wind Energy Tax Credit
Wind-energy industry manufacturers are stepping up the pressure on Congress when it comes to the production tax credit for renewable energy.
The credit expires at the end of the year, and because a decision hasn’t been made, orders for new wind projects have been disappearing. Rob Hach… president of Anemometry Specialists in Alta… says the bottom line is that if the credit goes away, so will jobs. Hach’s company provides wind-resource assessments.
Iowa is a top producer of wind power… with at least five thousand jobs here connected to the industry, according to the American Wind Energy Association. A temporary extension of the production tax credit has bipartisan support, yet there are also calls to let it expire.
