After Newell Fonda started the consolation round Wednesday by being held to 1 hit, and giving up 2 unearned runs in a 2-0 loss to LeMars Gehlen, the Mustangs came back later in the day and posted a 6-1 victory over Mason City Newman to claim 7th Place in the 1A State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge. 

The Mustangs had 9 hits in the win.  Jenna Falline had 2 RBI's.  Renee Maneman went 2-3 with 3 runs scored, and Brooke Hammen, Andrea Christensen, and Jade Hess each had an RBI. 

Falline was the winning pitcher, as she earned the 90th win of her career, throwing a 2 hitter, allowing 1 earned run, with 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. 

Newell Fonda's season ends with a record of 35-9.  They graduate three seniors, Falline, Hammen, and Alyssa Henrich.
