Tornadoe Baseball Season Ends In First round District Game



Humboldt pitcher Ben Jacobsen threw a two hit shutout and produced an rbi double in the fourth inning and the Wildcats beat Storm Lake 2-0 in a class 3A district semi-final game played Friday night at Storm Lake.

Jacobsen allowed a pair of singles in the game, both by Aaron Krier, and he struck out seven and walked three.  The Tornadoes left six runners on base in the game. 

Caul Fevold added a two out rbi single in the fifth for the Wildcats other run off losing pitcher Ethan Kenkel who struck out 10 batters in the game and gave up two earned runs on six hits.

Trailing 2-0 in the sixth with one out, Jacobsen would walk Trey O'Brian and Ethan Kenkel to put the tying run on base, but he would strike out Nic Seaman and get Blake Overmohle to pop out.

Storm Lake ends the season with a record of 16-14.  The Wildcats are now 20-11 and will play Sioux City-Heeland Monday night at Storm Lake in a district final.  The Crusaders beat Algona 15-3.
