7/13/12 Schug Drugs Arrest
A Havelock man has been arrested on drug possession charges, after he had threatened a stranded motorist.
According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday evening just after 6pm, they received an emergency call from a stranded motorist a few miles north of Pocahontas on Highway 4. The motorist stated that his vehicle broke down, and he walked up to a farm driveway to a house to get help. At that point, a male subject reportedly came out of the house, pointed a handgun in the motorist’s face, yelled threatening statements, and demanded that the motorist leave the property immediately.
Pocahontas County Sheriff Bob Lampe and a deputy responded to the call, where they found the home owner, 35 year old Daniel Jon Schug of Havelock. It was determined that Schug was under the influence of a controlled substance.
Upon further investigation, a marijuana grow operation was discovered at Schug’s residence, which contained just under 100 marijuana plants with a street value of approximately 80 thousand dollars. Methamphetamine, numerous drug paraphernalia, and numerous firearms were also found at the residence. Schug was in possession of a concealed weapons permit issued by the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, and Sheriff Lampe immediately revoked his permit to carry a firearm.
Schug was charged with 75 counts of manufacturing with intent to deliver, all Class D felonies…75 counts of failure to affix a tax stamp, all Class D felonies…2nd offense possession of methamphetamine, an aggravated misdemeanor…2nd offense possession of marijuana, an aggravated misdemeanor…and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Schug is currently being held in the Pocahontas County Jail on a 754 thousand dollar bond.
