at Buena Vista County 4-H/FFA Fair
Among a contest of 8 area 4-H and FFA teams the local Buena Vista County 4-H Livestock Judging teams won honors at the Iowa State University Buena Vista County 4-H/FFA Sanctioned Livestock Judging cont est in Alta on Thursday, July 12, 2012. The Buena Vista County Senior 4-H Team members placed 1st with teams from East Sac FFA placing second and third in the senior division.
Michelle Hagen from Sioux Central FFA in first place individual Senior Level in her first contest of the season.
Individuals who placed in the senior division included Michelle Hagen from Sioux Central FFA in first place; Dane Lenhart from BV County 4-H in second place; Ben Kolbe from East Sac FFA in third place; Jeremy Peterson from BV County 4-H in fourth place; Kyle Kolbe from East Sac FFA in fifth place; and Nicole Huser from East Sac FFA sixth place.
Dalton VanderWal- Top Junior 4-H Livestock Judging contestant; Providence 4-H Club, Storm Lake
Buena Vista 4-H County teams took 1st and 2nd place in the junior division. Junior 4-H’ers receiving individual awards include Dalton VanderWal first place; Lily Peterson second place; Lizzie Lenhart third place; Anna Cox fourth place; Dani Boettcher fifth place; and Grace Arnts sixth place.
East Sac FFA was represented with 11 individuals comprising 3 teams and receiving numerous awards.
Six classes of beef, sheep and swine were judged. This Iowa sanctioned contest provides an excellent opportunity for 4-H’ers to test their skills with a number of classes of animals and helps prepare them for the upcoming summer contests.
The Buena Vista Livestock Judging Coach, Marc Hinners, provides volunteer leadership for the annual contest.
