A Storm Lake teen… arrested in March in connection with a series of retail thefts and a residential burglary… has received a deferred judgment in Buena Vista County District Court.
Eighteen-year-old Nhial Lam was charged with third-degree burglary, a class “D” felony. He pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was placed on probation for two years… ordered to submit a
d-n-a sample… submit to a substance abuse evaluation… and pay legal fees. He was also ordered to pay 973-dollars in fines, surcharges, court costs, and restitution.
Lam’s arrest was in connection with a large group of juveniles who entered Wal-Mart and stole electronics items, soft drinks, and knives…. and also a burglary at 604-C West Eighth Street. Police recovered numerous stolen items after searching several residences and in a makeshift fort in a wooded area south of the Vista Estates trailer park.
Ten juveniles… three 13-year-olds, two 14-year-olds, and five 15-year-olds… were charged in juvenile court in connection with the case.
