Newell Fonda pounded out 17 hits on their way to a 14-1 route over Marcus Meriden Cleghorn in a 1A Softball Region Final Friday night in Storm Lake.

Alyssa Henrich dazzled at the plate for the Mustangs, going 5-6, including a double and a triple, and 3 RBI's.  Hailey Falline had 3 hits and 3 RBI's, Missy Morenz had 2 RBI's, and Andrea Christensen had 2 hits, scored 3 runs, and had an RBI. 

Winning pitcher Jenna Falline threw a 4 hitter, with 1 strikeout, and 2 walks. 

MMC's defense didn't help their cause, as they committed 7 errors.  MMC ends the year at 19-9.

Newell Fonda is now 34-7, as they qualify for the state tournament for the 6th time in the last 8 seasons.  Their 1st round game will be Monday July 16th at 11:30am against Charter Oak-Ute from Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.  The Mustangs state games will be broadcast on 92.9 The Moose KKIA, and will also be streamed here on stormlakeradio.com.
