A man is missing in the area of the Linn Grove dam… and search efforts will resume Thursday morning.
Buena Vista County Sheriff Gary Launderville says the Storm Lake police received a report about five o’clock Wednesday afternoon from two men who said a friend they had been with at the Linn Grove dam area had gone under water and were unable to locate him. They said it had happened two hours previously. The sheriff’s office was notified and was dispatched to the scene. Assistance was requested from the Department of Natural Resources.
Launderville says search efforts began immediately by boats from the sheriff’s office and the DNR to cover several miles of the river. The initial investigation indicates the missing person was wading in the river… went under water…and came back up yelling for help. He then disappeared from sight. The three people with him attempted to find him… were unable to… and drove to Storm Lake to summon help.
Search efforts continued until about 8:20 Wednesday evening when efforts were halted for the night. The missing man is 30 year-old and from Storm Lake. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
