The Storm Lake Star Spangled Spectacular is kicking off their annual fundraising campaign this week.
          The committee has a fundraising goal of 30-thousand dollars, including raising funds for a matching gift from the Buena Vista County Community Foundation in conjunction with Storm Lake United to purchase a new sound system.  Fundraising chair Josh Newhouse says they have shared sound equipment with Storm Lake United for several years, and with the new activities added in the last couple of years, the need for a mobile sound system became an opportunity to seek a matching grant. He says they have received many gifts already this year, which is amazing… with many of loyal donors wanting to support the family-centered event.
                Newhouse, along with co-chair Barb Anderson, will be contacting donors in person and by mail starting this week. Donations range from five to 500-dollars, and gifts of all sizes make a difference for the family-friendly Fourth of July event.
