5/24/12 Clean Line Project

The Rock Island Clean Line has received needed approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The 500-mile electric transmission line project will run from northwest Iowa to northeast Illinois… and has now received permission to begin negotiating transmission service agreements with potential customers.  The project will deliver 35-hundred megawatts of electric power from wind energy resources in northwest Iowa… and from adjacent areas of Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota… to communities in Illinois and other states to the east.
Governor Terry Branstad says the project has the potential to bring billions of dollars of new investment to Iowa and create thousands of jobs.
The 1.7 million dollar project is expected to be in operation in 2016 or 2017.
