2/17/12 BVU Tuition Increase

Buena Vista University has announced a 4 percent increase in tuition at its Storm Lake campus for the 2012-13 academic year.

The new tuition approved by the Board of Trustees is $28,314. The new rate for room and board will total $8,180, a 5.28 percent increase. The overall increase for tuition and room and board is 4.28 percent.

“This increase reflects our consideration of the financial stress that a number of our students and their families continue to face in our nation’s troubled economy,” says President Fred Moore. “We expect the tuition increase to be among the lowest percentage increases in Iowa higher education, a position BVU has been in for several years. BVU is committed to offering affordability and great value to our students through a high quality, innovative educational experience.”

Full-time freshman entering this fall will also have the option of selecting a Level Tuition plan. Those who select this plan will pay a fixed tuition of $29,589 per year for each of their four years at BVU. This will allow participants to have an easier time budgeting for college expenses and they may also realize significant cost savings over their four years at BVU. Room and board and other fees are excluded from this plan.

Tuition for “face-to-face” undergraduate classes at BVU’s Graduate & Professional Studies locations will be $325 per credit hour, which compares to $312 this year. The tuition for students in the face-to-face graduate program will be $430 per credit hour, an $18 increase. Tuition for online studies will be $392 for undergraduate courses, a $16 increase; and $488 for graduate courses, a $20 increase.
