2/17/12 Lullman Sentenced To Prison

A Buena Vista County man has been sentenced to five years in prison on being a felon in possession of firearms.
Fifty-four year-old John Stephen Lullman pleaded guilty to the class “C” felony charge and was ordered to pay one-thousand dollars in fines, surcharges, and court costs… to pay legal fees and jail restitution… and submit a DNA sample.
The prison sentence is to be served concurrently with a ten-year prison sentence received on a first-degree theft conviction.  Last April, Lullman was placed on three-years probation after pleading guilty to writing 30-thousand dollars in bad checks.  At the hearing in January, Lullman acknowledged on August 12th, he assaulted his wife by hitting her on the head with full beer cans he threw at her.  He also admitted on August 14th, he was in possession of several shotguns and rifles, even though, as a convicted felon, he was not allowed to own or possess any firearms.
Lullman also admitted on September 29th, and on October eighth, he duped three victims who had worked for him by writing bad checks to them totaling over 15-hundred dollars.  Lullman’s probation was revoked and the ten-year prison term was reinstated.
Lullman’s wife… Debra… was also charged with dominion or control of firearms by a felon.  She pleaded guilty and was given a five-year suspended sentence.  She was placed on probation for three years… and ordered to pay legal fees and jail restitution.  A 750-dollar fine was suspended.
