Motorcyclist Killed After Colliding With Anhydrous Tank

A Storm Lake man was killed Monday evening when his motorcycle collided with a truck north of Alta.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Lien Tejeda Lores of Storm Lake was northbound on M-31… when his motorcycle made contact with a truck pulling an anhydrous trailer. The truck… driven by 67-year-old Norman O’Bannon of Alta… was southbound after turning from 570th Street.

The sheriff’s office says the motorcycle made contact with the anhydrous trailer, causing Tejeda Lores to fall off and enter the east ditch.  The motorcycle continued through the east ditch coming to a rest north of the intersection.  Tejeda Lores was pronounced dead at the scene. O’Bannon was not injured. The accident happened about 6:00 p.m. Monday.

The investigation into this accident is continuing.  Speed is believed to be a large factor in the cause of the accident.  More information will be released upon completion of the accident investigation.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center ambulance, the Alta Fire Department and the Alta First Responders.
