Inmate Gets More Jail Time After Escape Attempt

An inmate at the Clay county jail who tried to make a run for it in February has been sentenced.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Coty Bridge of Spencer was being transferred between two cells when he became uncooperative and started arguing with a jailer. Authorities say Bridge then tried to run down a hallway, but was restrained by the jailer. Bridge allegedly remained combative as he was placed back into his cell.

Bridge was charged with attempted escape from custody and interference with official acts. He pleaded guilty to escape from custody, a serious misdemeanor. Bridge was sentenced to 30 days in jail and to pay 13-hundred dollars in court costs. A 625-dollar fine was suspended.
