Bike trails in Storm Lake will be marked this spring. Mayor Mike Porsch says stenciling the location of the trails will be painted on streets this spring.
Last week, Porsch told the Mayor’s Committee on Park, Trails and Urban Forest they’re working with Storm Lake United to have a map of the trail in a brochure, and also hope to have a map of the wood carvings around Storm Lake. He said they also plan to promote the bike trails on Storm Lake United’s Facebook page and are looking into posting videos of the trail.
Porsch says the city is also trying to get grant money for a shared use path along the north side of C-49 east to John Deere, then south on old railroad right-of-way to Seneca Street. City manager Keri Navratil noted the city applied to the state last year for funding for the project but they weren’t successful.
