Young musicians are encouraged to enter the Iowa Rocks Talent Contest.
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s Iowa Rocks Talent Competitions are about to begin, with five regional competitions scheduled across the state, including a contest in Okoboji on March 21.
Executive Director Cindy Stanbro says the competition has been expanded this year. “It’s expanded so now there’s an individual component and a group component, so noy just for bands anymore. You can have instrumental groups, vocal groups, you can just play a guitar if you’re an individual instrumentalist or individual singer, or bands are also welcome. That is March 21st at the Pearson Lakes Art Center so, we’re excited. That’s going to be at 6:30 and you can sign up now on our website.”
She adds that the winners of regional competitions will move on to the finals which will be held on Labor Day Weekend. “We’ll have some professional musicians giving great feedback for those participants and encouraging them in ways to grow, and then a few will be passed on to the finals that will happen on our big Labor Day Weekend at the Roof Garden.”
