An arrest has been made following an investigation into a report of child abuse in Alta.
Buena Vista County Sheriff Kory Elston says on March fifth, his department received a report of a belated incident at 124 North Main Street. It was alleged a three-year-old child had received minor injuries from the mother’s ex-boyfriend about three weeks earlier. On the same date, the child and mother were interviewed by a Buena Vista County Deputy in Spirit Lake accompanied by the Department of Human Services.
After an investigation, 36-year-old Nicholas Briggs was charged with child endangerment causing bodily injury, a class “D” felony. Briggs was held in the Buena Vista County Jail on a five-thousand dollar bond.
Assisting the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office was the Department of Human Services.
