Police Blotter

On the morning of Saturday, February 9, 2019 at approximately 8:19am the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Meridian Manufacturing located at 2902 Expansion Blvd. in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighters it was determined that a system malfunction caused the alarm to activate.
There was no fire and no damage.
The fire department was on scene for approximately 10 minutes and was assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department and Meridian staff.

On the morning of Saturday, February 9, 2019 at approximately 1:53am the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Grand Hall on the campus of Buena Vista University in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighter they determined the alarm was caused by burnt food on the third floor of the dorm.
There was no fire and no damage.
The fire department was on scene for approximately 10 minutes and was assisted by the Storm Lake Police Department and BVU Security.

On the morning of Sunday, February 10, 2019 at approximately 2:05am Storm Lake Police were on location at the Malarky’s Bar and Grill on Flindt Drive when they were advised of an assault.
Police met with an adult female who alleged that a male patron at the bar and grill had physically assaulted her while she was waiting for a bus.
Police located the male and identified him as Zachary Ryan Laudner, age 18 of Rockwell City, IA. Police arrested Laudner and charged him with Assault and Public Intoxication (both simple misdemeanors). He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $600.00 bond
