Pocahontas Area was never behind in their 83-59 win over Manson Northwest Webster Monday night in the 1st round of 2A boys basketball districts in Pocahontas.
The Indians started hot, building a 15-point led during the 1st quarter, and were up 22-13 after eight minutes. Manson NWW chipped away, and twice got the score tied during the 2nd quarter. Poky ended the half on a 7-0 run, capped by a Jace Davidson’s Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Play of the Game, a 30-foot three-pointer with two seconds on the clock, to give the Indians a 42-32 lead at the break, and the lead never got below double-digits in the 2nd half.
Davidson led four Indians in double-figures with 25. Nate Aljets had 15, and Trey Oehlertz and Nathan Hanson each had 12. Coach Brian Friesner spoke after the game…
Kaden Hanson topped the Cougars with 30, as Manson NWW finishes at 4-18.
Pocahontas Area will take their 15-7 record into Thursday’s district semifinal game against Lake Mills, which will begin at 6:30pm in Forest City. Estherville Lincoln Central beat Emmetsburg 42-21 in the first game in Pocahontas on Monday, and ELC will now go against top seeded Forest City in the other district semi Thursday.
