The Ridge View teams defeated St. Mary’s in Schaller Monday night, starting with a 64-32 win in the girls game.
The Raptors raced out to a 10-0 lead, but St. Mary’s fought back to get within 18-16 midway through the 2nd quarter. Ridge View bounced back to score the last 11 points of the 1st half, and extended it to a 16-0 run into the 3rd.
Ridge View’s four seniors shared the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, as they all scored in double-figures, led by Kinzey Dutler with 15, Emerson Else 13, Kennedy Mason 12, and Kara Richard had 10.
Lizzie Lenhart led the Panthers with 17.
The Ridge View girls improve to 11-9. They’ll next play Saturday in a 2A region 1st round game against Hartley Melvin Sanborn. That 7pm game in Holstein will be broadcast on 97.5 KBVU.
The St. Mary’s girls fall to 6-13. They’ll host West Bend Mallard on Tuesday as part of a varsity double-header. Then, on Thursday night the girls will host WBM in a 1A region opener at 7pm, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7.
The Ridge View boys also did not trail in their 71-47 win.
The Raptors were up 17-11 after the 1st quarter, and 35-16 at the half. St. Mary’s ended the 3rd quarter on a 12-0 run to get within 47-33. Ridge View responded with a nifty Austin Degen transition reverse layup, and then a Jake Kliegl layup set up by some gorgeous passing, which turned into a three-point play. Those were tabbed the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Plays of the Game.
11 Raptors put points on the board, led by Jake Tokheim with 17, and Caleb Kistenmacher had 15.
For the Panthers, Jake Heitman led the way with 19. Alex Merten chipped in 11, all in the 2nd half, and Dawson Miller had 10.
Ridge View is now 7-13. The Raptors boys play one more regular season game Friday in Schaller against Newell Fonda.
St. Mary’s goes to 1-17. The Panthers boys after the Tuesday double-header against West Bend Mallard will play on Friday at East Sac County. That Friday game will be broadcast on 92.9 KKIA.
