The South Central Calhoun girls basketball team is still undefeated, as the 5th-ranked in 2A Titans defeated Storm Lake St. Mary’s 55-35 Friday night in Rockwell City.
The Panthers led by six during the 1st quarter, but SCC took the lead for good with a 10-0 run, and they were up 27-19 at the break.
Maddie Jones led all scorers with 21, and teammate Emma McKinney had 14 for the Titans. Danika Demers and Lizzie Lenhart each had 12 for St. Mary’s.
SCC is now 12-0, and 4-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference, dropping St. Mary’s to 4-6, 2-2.
The South Central Calhoun boys cruised to a 76-37 win.
The Titans scored 30 1st quarter points, led 33-4 early in the 2nd, and were ahead 47-21 at the half.
Zane Neubaum led SCC with 20, followed by Brennan Holder with 16, and Jacob Nicholson had 15.
Jake Heitman had a team-high 13 for the Panthers.
SCC goes to 10-1, and 4-0 in the Twin Lakes, and St. Mary’s is 1-8, 0-4.
The St. Mary’s teams host Alta Aurelia on Tuesday, which can be heard on Mix 101.7.
The SCC teams entertain Humboldt on Tuesday.
