Police Blotter

On the morning of Friday, September 14, 2018 at approximately 4:58am the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Methodist Manor located at 1206 West 4th Street in reference to an automated fire alarm.
Upon arrival of fire fighters it was determined that the alarm was caused by a system malfunction.
There was no fire and no damage.
The fire department was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department.

On the evening of Thursday, September 13, 2018 at approximately 6:36pm the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to 711 Hudson Street in reference to a report of a gas odor in the residence.
Upon arrival of fire fighters they detected a faint odor of gas in the residence which was confirmed by Alliant Energy personnel upon their arrival who located a small leak in a furnace valve in the basement.
The leak was secured.
There was no damage and no injuries.
The fire department was on scene for approximately 1 hour and was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department and Alliant Energy.

On September 11th 2018 at approximately 7:49am, at the intersection of Flindt Road and E. 4th St. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Samuel Ortman of Storm Lake, was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Nan Yee of Storm Lake. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $2501.

On September 11th 2018 at approximately 2:54pm, at the intersection of N. Seneca St. and N. Windsor Cir. in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Donald Caboth of Alta, struck a vehicle owned by Iakopihna Ioanis of Storm Lake. Total damages were estimated at $800. Caboth was cited for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.
