Tornado Girls Swim Team Results From Perry

The Storm Lake Girls’ Swim Team took to the water for a full meet on Tues., Sept. 11 in Perry. The format was a double dual and Storm Lake won both their duals, defeating Perry 84 to 55 and the Green and White scored a  96-45 win over Algona.

In the Varsity events Storm Lake won 7 of the 11 events; including 2 of the 3 relay events. To start the meet the 200 yd Medley Relay team of Alli Graff, Sami Lalone, Megan Brown and Brooklyn Wissbaum won in a time of 2:05.99; while teammates Kennedy Tate, Chloe Lalone, Emma Jensen and Taylor Richardson were 2nd in the same race. Alli Graff and Kennedy Tate led the individual efforts as they each won their two events; one of which was the SAME event. They tied for 1st in the 100 yd backstroke race with their 1:11.81 finishes. Then Alli won the 100 yd freestyle in 1:01.65 and Kennedy followed that with a win in the 500 yd freestyle in 6:19.35. Two other swimmers were 1st and 2nd in their events. Megan Brown won the 50 yd freestyle in 28.65 and was 2nd in the 100 yd breaststroke in a time of 1:26.63. Teammate Sami Lalone won the 100 yd breaststroke in 1:18.75 and was 2nd in the 100 yd butterfly in 1:14.08. Other 2nd place finishes were by Brooklyn Wissbaum in the 50 yd freestyle in :29.26 and Beth Runneberg in the 200 yd freestyle in 2:18.55. The other winning relay was the 200 yd Freestyle Relay team of Alli Graff, Beth Runneberg, Brooklyn Wissbaum and Megan Brown in 1:55.46.

In the JV events Storm Lake also won 7 events, including all three relays. The winning 200 yd Medley Relay team was Isabelle Hansen, Mercedes Juelfs, Alayna Rice and Jaylyn Vandervort. In the 200 yd Freestyle Relay it was Chloe Lalone, Mercedes Juelfs, Anahi Garcia and Karley Mills getting the win and in the 400 yd Freestyle Relay it was the group of Alejandra Rodriguez, Tiffany Trujillo, Jaylyn Vandervort and Alayna Rice finishing first. Individual firsts were earned by Karley Mills in the 200 yd freestyle, Emma Jensen in the 50 yd freestyle-where Storm Lake had the top 8 finishers, Vivian Keenan in the 100 yd freestyle-where Storm Lake had the top 3 or 4 finishers and Chloe Lalone in the 100 yd breaststroke.
