Suarez Sentenced On Theft Charge

A Storm Lake man… arrested on theft charges in May of 2017… has been sentenced in Buena Vista County District Court.

Storm Lake Police alleged between May fourth and 18th of last year, 25-year-old Antonio Suarez Valladares deposited five empty envelopes into an ATM at Central Bank on North Lake Avenue. Suarez then allegedly withdrew the maximum daily amount of money from the ATM. Bank employees reported Suarez fraudulently deposited 48-hundred dollars and was able to withdrawal 14-hundred dollars before the bank deactivated his card.

Police charged Suarez with ongoing criminal conduct, a class “B” felony and three counts of fourth-degree theft, all serious misdemeanors. He pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor… with the other charges dismissed. He was given a two-year suspended sentence, placed on probation for two years, and ordered to submit a DNA sample. Suarez was ordered to pay 56-hundred dollars in court costs, surcharges, and restitution.
