SL Teen Charged With Counterfeit $50 Bill

A Storm Lake teen was charged after police Wednesday afternoon were dispatched to Burger King to investigate an attempt to pass counterfeit currency.

Police were told by store staff a male juvenile attempted to pass a counterfeit 50-dollar bill for food but was denied by a store clerk. He then took the bill and left the store.

Police identified the suspect as a 16 year old male of Storm Lake, who was located in the 800 block of Lake Avenue. Police allege they located and seized two counterfeit 50-dollars bills from the juvenile.

The 16-year-old was charged with forgery, a class “D” felony. He was processed and released to a parent pending an appearance in juvenile court.
