Buena Vista sophomore wide receiver, Eric Pacheco (So. WR, Kearney, Neb./Kearney Catholic), had a strong start to the year last Thursday night in the team’s season opener against Hamline and has been awarded for that performance by landing American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week accolades.
Pacheco hauled in a career-high eight passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns against the Pipers, marking the highest yardage total in the conference in week one and just three yards shy of the highest total in all of Division III. His touchdowns went for 37, 87 and 46 yards. The final one put the Beavers in front by two scores with under two minutes left to play that virtually secured the victory.
Only one player has hauled in more yards in a single game in program history than Pacheco did (308, Jalen Henningsen vs. Loras in 2015).
Buena Vista defeated Hamline 39-27 and goes on the road this Saturday, September 8, for a 1:00pm kick-off at Concordia University (Neb.). The game will be broadcast on 97.5FM KBVU at 1pm.
