OA-BCIG Defeats East Sac

OA-BCIG improved to 2-0 with a 28-13 win over East Sac County in Ida Grove.

The Falcons dented the scoreboard late in the 1st quarter, going 80 yards in 11 plays.  On 4th and goal, Kaden Ladwig threw a six-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Mortensen, and William Grote’s PAT made it 7-0.

On the ensuing drive, East Sac got on the board, traveling 70 yards in nine plays, as Jake Paysen ran a six-yard touchdown, and Tyler Schmitt’s PAT tied it at 7-7 with 11:30 to go in the half.

OA-BCIG regained the lead on the next drive, going 58 yards in five plays.  Ladwig’s 16 yard TD run made it 14-7, which was the halftime tally.  East Sac put together a 20-play drive that chewed up the final 6:56 of the half, that ended with an incomplete pass in the red zone going to halftime.

The Raiders scored again early in the 4th quarter.  A 12-play, 81 yard drive culminated in a Garret Bruce nine-yard touchdown run.  But the point-after was blocked, keeping OA-BCIG ahead by a point.

The Falcons answered on the next drive, which included the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Play of the Game, a 2nd and 28 completion after a high snap was chased down by Ladwig, throwing to Quintin Cranston for a 43 yard gain.  The drive ended with a six yard completion to Cooper Dejean in the end zone to make it 21-13.

Mortensen got an interception on East Sac’s next offensive play, and five plays later, Ladwig’s one-yard QB sneak led to the final scoring margin.

Ladwig was 19 of 23 through the air for 201 yards, and was the Falcons leading rusher with 35.  Cranston had three catches for 77 yards, and Dejean had eight catches for 56 yards.  OA-BCIG had 239 yards of offensive.  Cranston also had an interception in the back of the end zone early in the game.

East Sac piled up 387 total yards.  Bruce ran 39 times for 224 yards.  Griff O’Neill passed for 63 yards.  Mason Drost caught five for 46.  OA-BCIG had zero penalties on the night.  East Sac had seven which cost them 45 yards.

OA-BCIG will play their first road game next Friday, as the visit Cherokee.
