The Buena Vista County Supervisors have approved two engineering design contracts for North Raccoon River watershed projects.
Storm Lake city manager Keri Navratil told the Supervisors the first contract is with E-O-R Environmental Engineering in Storm Lake… which covers a flood plan. The North Raccoon Watershed Coalition received a 200-thousand dollar HUD grant for the plan.
The second contract is with W-H-K-S Engineering of Mason City. Navratil says the contract is for planning services and writing the plan for watershed improvements in Buena Vista and Pocahontas counties.
The North Raccoon River Watershed Project includes activities in the upper watershed to reduce flooding and improve water quality, as well as infrastructure projects in the city of Storm Lake to protect commercial and residential property from flooding.
Supervisor chair Dale Arends noted 30 jurisdictions are now members of the North Raccoon coalition.
