The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy shot a dog out of self-defense after the dog lunged and bit him.
Authorities say it happened on August third when a deputy was called to a residence near Webb to investigate a civil complaint. The Sheriff’s Office says while the deputy was there, a bull mastiff dog lunged at the deputy and bit him on the leg. Authorities say the deputy then fired his gun at the dog. The dog was taken by it’s owner to a veterinarian, where it died.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says no charges have been filed in the incident.
