The Storm Lake City Council this week approved a change in the Seventh and Geneseo sanitary sewer project.
Assistant city manger David Derragon said the project replaces an undersized sanitary sewer main, replacing it with a 15-inch sewer from the intersection of Seventh and Ontario to the existing 18-inch sewer north of Geneseo. The undersized sewer causes surcharging, which can lead to basement backups.
Derragon told the council the change order increases the cost of the project by 42-thousand dollars… and include additional erosion control measures, proper inlet protection, and additional paving. The project is being paid 75-percent by federal funds, and 25-percent by sanitary sewer collection funds.
