A Storm Lake man has received a suspended sentence in Buena Vista County District Court on a drug charge.
Last December 20th, 24-year-old Zachary Kraft of Storm Lake was arrested after allegedly assaulting his roommate by restricting the victim’s airway. He was charged with domestic strangulation, an aggravated misdemeanor… possession of marijuana wax, a serious misdemeanor… and three counts of delivery of meth, a class “D” felony.
He pleaded guilty to one count of controlled substance violation, a class “C” felony, with the other charges dismissed. He was given a ten-year suspended sentence, placed on probation for four years, and ordered to submit a DNA sample. Kraft was ordered to pay 385-dollars in court costs and surcharges, with a one-thousand dollar fine suspended.
Kraft also pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of simple misdemeanor assault in an unrelated case. In January, Kraft was charged with domestic abuse assault, a class “D” felony. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail time served, and to pay 22-hundred dollars in fines, surcharges, and court costs.
