The Storm Lake city budget for the fiscal year beginning July first was approved this week by the city council.
The budget has a tax asking of $14.06 per thousand dollar valuation… down from the current $14.27. The budget includes revenues of 33-million dollars, and expenditures of 32.8-million dollars.
City finance director Brian Oakleaf says expenditures are down by 2.2-percent from the current budget. There is an increase in public safety spending… 700-thousand dollars for new fire trucks… and public works includes a 223-thousand dollar increase in road maintenance and snow removal.
The council also approved the five-year capital improvement plan. Among the larger expenditures planned next year are 1.7-million dollars for storm water… 935-thousand for streets… 519-thousand for the water plant… 360-thousand for waste water… and 265-thousand for the airport.
