Semi Tractor Fire In Storm Lake

The Storm Lake Fire Department was dispatched shortly after 11:30 Sunday night to Meridian Manufacturing at 2897 Expansion Boulevard, where a semi-tractor was fully engulfed in flames.

Fire fighters extinguished a large fire in a 2012 Kenworth semi-tractor. An investigation determined the driver parked the vehicle and left it running for about thirty minutes. The vehicle caught fire and a passing Buena Vista County Deputy called in the fire. It’s believed the fire originated in the driver’s compartment and the exact cause is undetermined. The vehicle is considered a total loss, with over 20-thousand dollars damage.

The vehicle is owned by Double Bar S and Sons of Springfield, Nebraska. There were no injuries.

The fire department was on scene for about one hour and was assisted by Storm Lake Police and the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office.
