Storm Lake Girls Season Ends in Denison

Storm Lake built an early lead, but Denison Schleswig seized control before halftime, on their way to a 64-38 victory over Storm Lake in a girls basketball 4A region semifinal Saturday night.

The Tornadoes led by as many as five, and were up 11-7 after the 1st quarter.  Denison Schleswig took their first lead at 15-13 in the 2nd quarter, and never trailed after that.  The Monarchs led 26-16 at halftime.  Storm Lake scored the opening point of the 3rd quarter, but never got closer than that for the remainder.

Rachel Bozonie led Storm Lake with 14, all in the 2nd half.  Ariel Bozonie followed with 10.  Alex Mohr had a game-high 19 for the Monarchs.

Storm Lake’s season concludes with a record of 7-16.  Their seven seniors shared in the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, including Ariel Bozonie, Jenna Neumann, Briana Soto, Danielle Reyes, Kaylee Oehler, Pasha Nyewe, and Nyathal Deng.

11th-ranked Denison Schleswig (16-6) will play at #9 LeMars in the region final Tuesday night.
