Big 4th Quarter Lifts Wolverines Over Upset Minded Panthers

South O’Brien outscored Storm Lake-Saint Mary’s 20-8 in the 4th quarter pulling away for a 55-39 district quarter-final win over the visiting Panthers Thursday night at Paullina.

The Wolverines never trailed in the game but their win was not an easy one.  The Panthers who trailed 26-18 at the break cut the deficit to one late in the 3rd quarter but a steal and a three-point play for the Wolverines gave them a 35-31 lead heading into the final stanza.

Jackson Louscher, who scored a game high 19 points, buried a couple big three pointers in the 4th quarter as he led all scorers in the game.  Carson Louscher and Peyton Brassler each had 12.

The Panthers were led by Will Hurd who scored 11, and Chakouthchok Malou had 10, Jake Heitman finished with eight.

Panther head coach Nick Landgraf had this to say after the game.

The Panthers finish the year 4-18 and graduate four seniors.  South O’Brien is now 17-5 and will host Harris-Lake Park Tuesday in a 1A district semi-final.
