Two teens were injured in a one-vehicle accident south of Storm Lake last Friday afternoon.
Buena Vista County Sheriff Kory Elston says it happened on 110th Avenue, just south of C-65. He says the driver… a 14-year-old male from Storm Lake… was operating at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the stop sign at C-65. The SUV continued south and the driver lost control. The vehicle went into the west ditch and rolled at least three times.
Two of the passengers… a 13-year-old girl from Storm Lake and a 13-year-old girl from Alta… were ejected. They were taken by ambulance to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver and two other passengers… a 14-year-old boy from Storm Lake and a 14-year-old girl from Storm Lake… were not injured.
The Sheriff’s Office cited 53-year-old Luis Rodriguez-Rodriguez of Storm Lake for allowing an unauthorized minor to drive. The driver received citations for failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to maintain control, and violation of an instructional permit.
