Newell Fonda Rolls in Region Opener

The Newell Fonda girls basketball team never trailed in their 77-28 1A region quarterfinal win over Ar-We-Va in Newell on Tuesday night.

Newell Fonda’s defense, led by their punishing full-court pressure, got the nod for the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Play of the Game.

12 Mustangs put points on the board in what was a well balanced effort.  Olivia Larsen entered the game needing 5 points to reach 1,000 for her varsity career, which she achieved with a 2nd quarter layup, and the junior ended with a team-high 12 on the night.  Olivia, and her father, assistant coach Kevin Larsen spoke after the game…

Ella Larsen tallied 11, and Jenna Coppock and Megan Morenz each had 9.  The Mustangs racked up 12 threes for the game.

Ar-We-Va was led by Emilee Danner with 12, as they finish with a record of 10-12.

#4 Newell Fonda (22-0) will host Glidden Ralston in a region semifinal on Friday night at 7pm, which will be broadcast on Mix 101.7FM KAYL.
