Monday’s 2A boys basketball district double-header at Ida Grove began with Maple Valley Anthon Oto-Charter Oak Ute getting a 69-57 win over East Sac County.
There were seven lead changes and four ties in the 1st half. MVAO-COU was up 30-28 at the break, and they never trailed in the 2nd half, and led 52-43 after the 3rd. The Raiders only got within eight in the 4th.
Brandyn Clair led East Sac with 21 points, followed by Levi Olhausen with 14. The Raiders seniors, Olhausen, Tanner Bohm, Alex Gerdes, and Josh Halbur shared the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game. East Sac’s season ends at 12-8.
The Rams (13-7) were led by Colby Seuntjens with 24. MVAO-COU will play at district top seed Carroll Kuemper on Thursday night at 8pm in a district semifinal.
In the 2nd game, OA-BCIG never trailed in their 73-53 triumph over Missouri Valley.
The Falcons were up 35-26 at halftime. Missouri Valley got within five on two occasions during the 3rd quarter. After the Big Reds got within 49-44 late in the 3rd, OA-BCIG broke it open with a 12-0 run.
OA-BCIG had five players in double-figures, including the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, Cooper Dejean, with 14 points, with 9 of those coming in the 3rd quarter. Kaden Ladwig led the Falcons with 18, hitting four of the team’s nine threes.
Missouri Valley’s season ends at 4-17. OA-BCIG (14-8) will play Logan Magnolia in the first district semifinal at Kuemper on Thursday night at 6:30. That game will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.
