Ida Extension Beekeeping Class

ISU Extension and Outreach Ida County will be hosting, Beekeeping 101 on February 26th from 6-8pm at the Ida County Conservation Center in Ida Grove. Kris Kohl, ISU Extension and Outreach Ag Engineer and Beekeeper with over 40 years of experience will go over all the basics. Kris will list strategies and ideas for beekeeping, while introducing us to the fundamentals of beekeeping to help attendees decide if this hobby is right for them. Beekeeping has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years as more people purchase hives for their homes and farms. Bees are one of the most incredible creatures on the planet. The more you learn about this complex insect beyond their great tasting honey the more fascinated you will become. Beekeeping can be a fascinating hobby, a profitable side venture, or a full-time occupation. You may want to keep bees for the delicious fresh honey they produce, for the benefits of their valuable services as pollinators, or perhaps simply for the enjoyment of learning more about one of nature’s most interesting insects.

This class is sponsored by Ida County Extension and offered at no cost. Spaces are limited so please call 712-364-3003 or email kandicem@iastate.edu
