Hansen Pleads Not Guilty To 4 Counts Of Sexual Abuse

Former Sac City city councilman Gary Hansen has entered a not guilty plea to sexual abuse charges.

In December, the Sac City Police Department charged 75-year-old Gary Lee Hansen of Sac City with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a class “B” felony. Police allege Hansen committed a sex act on a six-year-old child. The incidents allegedly occurred in 2009 and 2010. He entered the not guilty plea Thursday in Sac County District Court. No trial date has been set.

In January, Hansen was released from jail under the condition he personally appear for all future hearings in the case. In addition, Hanson cannot be alone with anyone under 18.   The court also imposed a curfew, requiring Hansen to stay in his residence from 10 p.m. until five a.m.

Hansen was a member of the Sac City city council until 2015, when he was defeated for re-election.
