A man in possession of stolen handguns… who also conspired to distribute meth… was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison.
Thirty year-old Stephen Scott Smith from Austin, Texas, received the prison term after pleading guilty in September. to conspiracy to distribute meth. He was arrested in northwest Iowa after allegedly distributing more than 500 grams of meth in 2016. Smith was discovered to possess two stolen Glock handguns. In addition, during a vehicle search, agents discovered Smith possessed a third handgun and about a quarter pound of crystal meth. Smith was bringing meth in large quantities from Texas for resale in Sioux City.
Smith must serve a five-year term of supervised release after the prison term. Smith is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
