The Alta Aurelia boys prevailed 60-56 Tuesday night over Sioux Central in Sioux Rapids.
Sioux Central led by as many as eight early on, and led 16-14 after the 1st quarter. Alta Aurelia took their first lead at the end of the 1st half 30-28. The Rebels regained the lead late in the 3rd, before Alex Snyder hit a three to make it 43-41 Alta Aurelia going to the 4th, which they would not relinquish from there.
Snyder, the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game, had 13 points, including four from downtown, and hit the game-clinching free throw with 4.5 seconds left. Anthony Krier followed with 9. Hunter Decker and Jake Hanson each had 14 for Sioux Central.
The Warriors improve to 12-3 overall, and 5-3 in the Twin Lakes Conference, dropping Sioux Central to 8-6, 5-3.
The Sioux Central girls overcame a seven point halftime deficit to win 73-55.
There were four lead changes and two ties in the 1st half, and Alta Aurelia was up 31-24 at the break. The Rebels took the lead for good midway through the 3rd quarter.
Dani Boettcher had 36 points to lead the way, including 15 in the 3rd, getting the Wells Ag Supply of Fonda Player of the Game. Shera Smith added 16. The Warriors were led by Erin Lockin with 15, and Lily Peterson with 14.
Sioux Central goes to 11-6, and 5-3 TLC, and Alta Aurelia is now 8-9, 5-3.
The Alta Aurelia teams play at Manson Northwest Webster on Friday, while the Sioux Central teams Friday are at East Sac County.
