ASpencer man… accused in July of threatening a neighbor with what appeared to be a handgun but instead turned out to be a BB gun… has been sentenced.
Police located 32-year-old Ian Haupt of Spencer and found a BB handgun resembling a Smith and Wesson M and P handgun. It was determined Haupt had allegedly threatened a neighbor with the BB gun in a dispute stemming from a barking dog.
Haupt was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. He pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment, a serious misdemeanor. He was given a one-year suspended sentence, placed on probation for one year, and ordered to pay 650-dollars in fines, surcharges, and court costs.
