Taylor Houska drilled eight 3-pointers and scored a game high 33 points leading East Sac County to a 66-40 win over Saint Mary’s Friday night in Sac City. After trailing 1-0 the Raiders went on a 22-0 run and never looked back building a 29-8 lead at the half.
Madi Friedrichsen chipped in with 10 points as East Sac improves to 6-5 on the year. The Panthers were led by Olivia Schaller who scored 18 and Lizzie Lenhart added 16. Saint Mary’s falls to 2-9 overall.
In the boys game, East Sac led 30-13 at the half and built a 21 point lead late in the 3rd quarter before holding off a furious Saint Mary’s rally and winning 61-52. Saint Mary’s would cut the deficit to two points at 53-51 but the Raiders Brandyn Clair would bury a huge 3-pointer with 1:15 to go in the game to put them ahead 56-51 and Saint Mary’s could get no closer.
Clair led the Raiders with 17 points, Connor Crabb added 14, and Levi Olhausen chipped in with 11. The Raiders have now won four in a row and sport a record of 6-4.
The Panthers were led Will Hurd and Dawson Miller with 14 each. The Panthers are now 1-9 overall. Saint Mary’s teams will play Clay Central Everly Monday night at Everly while the Raiders are home next Tuesday to West Bend-Mallard.
