The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is out with the findings of its latest “Best of Iowa” report.
It’s a compilation of interviews with various manufacturers in the corridor’s service area of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. Joanne Fallon outlined a couple of major findings in the report at last week’s Spirit Lake city council meeting…
“A couple key factors were the total sales and market shares are increasing for all the businesses. 16 businesses have plans to expand within the next three years which is great news for our region. 95 percent of the businesses have recruitment problems, I think we’re aware of all of that. 64 percent felt recruitment problems were due to the communities, and that’s something I think we all need to be aware of. Overall the utilities satisfaction was all really good, the technology infrastructure was adequate, the only concern was airline passenger service, that was one of the big concerns with the remoteness of our area here.”
The interviews were conducted during the past year.
